The Department of Communication Studies at Kutztown University invites applications for two tenure track, assistant professor positions in Communication Studies beginning August 2018. These teacher/scholar positions typically include a 4/4 teaching load including courses in the core of our major (Introduction to Communication Studies, Communication Theory, Research Methods, and our Capstone Experience) as well as courses within the candidates’ area of expertise which complement our concentrations in rhetoric and civic engagement, strategic communication (organizational communication and public relations), media studies, performance studies, and interpersonal communication. Specifically, we are looking for applicants who can teach courses in some (but not necessarily all) of the following areas: rhetoric and advocacy, small group, gender, and multicultural communication. Our department serves over 450 undergraduate majors in communication studies and social media theory and strategies. The department participates heavily in the Public Relations, Women and Gender Studies, Digital Communication and New Media, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Performance and Storytelling minors. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service.

Required: ABD with Ph.D. awarded by Dec. 30, 2019, evidence of the ability to teach core courses, two years of college level teaching completed by August 2018, as well as a successful on campus interview, teaching demonstration, and research presentation.  Preferred: Ph.D. in Communication Studies, or a Ph.D. in a closely related field.
