The Opportunity

The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine announces an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic, visionary and innovative leader to join the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences as a full-time clinical-track or tenure-track faculty member who will serve as the Frank Stanton Chair in General Practice and Canine Health and Wellness.  We aspire to Be The Model in veterinary general practice education to prepare confident and competent veterinarians for all areas of our profession. The Frank Stanton Chair will collaboratively build a preeminent companion animal, general practice-centric program for The Ohio State University's veterinary students.  With the construction of a new clinical and professional skills lab (scheduled to open in August 2018), the Frank Stanton Chair will have exceptional facilities and a talented team to assist with this important and transformational work.

The Impact

Approximately 70% of The Ohio State’s graduates enter general private practice and become the next generation of leaders in our community and profession. Working with our dedicated faculty, staff, and veterinary practice partners, the Frank Stanton Chair has the opportunity to help students develop and refine their clinical and professional skills through the promotion of active experiential learning and other innovative instructional approaches with the goal of helping our students become lifelong learners. One programmatic goal is to increase the confidence of graduates on their first day of clinical practice creating a more positive impact for their employer and their community.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a veterinarian who possesses a genuine enthusiasm for the educational success of our students with an understanding of the skills necessary to successfully and confidently enter veterinary general practice.  The Frank Stanton Chair will have a proven track record as a leader in clinical veterinary medicine and community outreach with an understanding of the challenges of medical education.

The Frank Stanton Chair will be an outstanding communicator and networker who will proactively work with students, faculty, staff, alumni, constituents and partners, including the Stanton Foundation, in a spirit of collaboration and transparency. The ideal candidate will articulate a vision to lead and inspire the General Practice and Canine Health and Wellness program and further develop an environment that promotes student success.

The Organization
