Case Western Reserve University invites applications for one or more full-time lecturer positions in SAGES (the Seminar Approach to General Education and Scholarship), the core academic program for all Case Western Reserve undergraduates. SAGES seminars cover a range of topics and emphasize intellectual inquiry, critical thinking, and academic writing. (See http://sages.case.edu/.) Responsibilities include designing and leading seminars, providing collaborative writing support in other SAGES seminars, and consulting with students in the Writing Resource Center. Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in any field by August 2018 and significant experience teaching undergraduates. Training in or experience with writing instruction strongly preferred. Teaching load is the equivalent of three courses per semester, which may include teaching departmental courses or administrative responsibilities. Initial appointment is for one year, and may be renewed for up to two additional one-year periods. Rank: Lecturer, non-tenure-track.

Application materials should be submitted electronically to SAGESapplications@case.edu by February 1, 2018. Please send a cover letter, CV, and a 1-2 paragraph description of a seminar you would be prepared to offer in the SAGES curriculum (information about goals and learning outcomes can be found on the SAGES webpage). Other correspondence may be sent to Christopher Flint, Chair, English Department, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio 44106-7117.
