Roanoke College and the Department of Religion & Philosophy invite nominations (including self-nominations) for the Jordan-Trexler Chair in Religion with a preferred starting date of August 2018. The successful nominee will be an outstanding teacher capable of generating interest in departmental programs and courses and a highly regarded scholar in the study of religion. The successful nominee will increase the breadth of courses offered in the department and play a leadership role in the department, college, and community. The successful nominee will be an articulate voice for the Lutheran tradition of higher education and a participant in the ongoing dialogue between faith and reason. Because the department has significant strengths in Christian Theology and Christian Ethics, it seeks to develop additional strengths in other areas in ways that complement our current strengths. The closing date for nominations is February 1, 2018. Roanoke College is a nationally ranked residential liberal arts college affiliated with the Lutheran Church (ELCA), located in the beautiful Roanoke Valley of Virginia. A Phi Beta Kappa institution, Roanoke College is an equal opportunity employer and actively seeks diversity among its faculty, staff, and students; women and members of under-represented groups are especially encouraged to apply. Please email inquiries and nominations to the Search Committee Chair, Ned Wisnefske, wisnefsk@roanoke.edu.
