The Marketing Department in the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond invites applications for an Instructor in Business Communications position, beginning in August 2018.

A faculty member in this position is expected to make strong contributions in the teaching and service areas. Accordingly, this position has two primary functions:
1) teach undergraduate Business Communications courses, and
2) provide service to the University and its students, including serving as the Business Communications course coordinator, participating in community engagement including on-campus and off-campus service and speaking events, and other service activities as assigned by the Department Chair.

This is a non­tenure-track teaching position subject to annual renewal for a maximum of three years, based on performance. The teaching load is equivalent to 3/3 course units per academic year. Preference will be given to applicants with extensive work experience in business organizations. Minimum qualifications require either a master's degree in communications or a related discipline and substantial work experience at the founder/co-founder level and/or senior managerial level, or an earned doctorate in communications with an appropriate publication record.

The successful candidate will display the following characteristics:
1 Demonstrated teaching excellence. The Instructor in Business Communications will need teaching capabilities that are commensurate with the Robins School's national reputation for exceptional teaching. The candidate selected to fill the position will teach core undergraduate courses in Business Communications. Typically, undergraduate Business Communications classes are scheduled once a week during the day.
2 Strong record of service achievements evidenced by, for example, advising businesses, new employees, and/or students, and building campus-community partnerships.

Faculty are expected to teach classes as scheduled, strive to improve teaching effectiveness, take an active interest in the progress and development of each student, and keep accurate records of each student's academic standing.
