The Museology Graduate Program is a two-year, full-time, master’s program on the UW Seattle campus. We accept 30-35 students each year, and inspire them to use museums to build strong communities. We are an interdisciplinary program in the UW’s Graduate School, and our 4 full-time faculty and 14 guest faculty have academic appointments spanning multiple UW colleges and schools.

This position is appointed within The Information School (iSchool), with the understanding all courses will be taught in the Museology Graduate Program. The position involves teaching a minimum of 2 Museology courses per quarter, including the possibility of chairing master’s thesis committees. It also requires advising first year Museology students, and serving on the Museology Admissions Committee.

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

Master’s degree (or equivalent) at the time of appointment, in a museum-related discipline. A PhD is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a museum-related field. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Technology and museums; Exhibit development and design; Nonprofit management, especially fundraising and marketing; Social justice in museums, including diversity, equity, and inclusion; and Collections access and sustainability.
Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in museum studies or related field, including course development and instruction. Experience with teaching undergraduate or graduate level courses is preferred, but not required.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Preference will be given to applications submitted by December 15, 2017. Selected candidates will be invited for campus visits. University of Washington is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
