Qualifications for this full-time position include the following required:

* Master's degree; at least two years' experience in postsecondary teaching, administration and/or training.

* Ability to work effectively with corporate leaders and other personnel at various levels of responsibility in businesses and non-profit organizations, as well as with NRCC faculty and staff, administrators, advisory committees and ad hoc committees, and the general public.

* Ability to work effectively with academic leaders and faculty in developing and offering workforce development courses, programs and services, and in undertaking joint initiatives.

* Ability to function both independently and cooperatively as a member of the college's workforce team.

* Excellent oral communications skills. Solid skills in written communication.

* Willingness to work weekend, evening and/or early morning hours when warranted by industry needs or other considerations.

* Willingness to work at the NRCC site in Christiansburg and in other locations in addition to the primary location at the college's campus in Dublin.

* Ability to represent both the workforce unit and the college as a whole regardless of location.

* Ability to understand advancing technology, embrace technological change, envision new futures and help position the college to meet emerging challenges and opportunities.

* Solid skills in use of office technologies.

 

Qualifications for this full-time position include the following preferred:

* Experience in a community college setting.

* Experience in non-credit curriculum development.

* Demonstrated knowledge of third-party credentialing standards and processes.

 

Job Duties include:

Under the direction of the Vice President for Workforce Development and External Relations, the Workforce Training Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of selected workforce development programs and services as an integral part of the college's workforce development team.

The position is also responsible for:

* In concert with the vice president and other administrative officials, providing leadership for workforce development initiatives in the New River Valley.

* Designing, scheduling and providing management oversight for short-term courses, seminars and workshops.

* Collaborating with area employers to stay abreast of the latest workforce development and credentialing needs.

* Coordinating the college's pre-employment testing services.

* Serving as an active member and/or leader of project teams and/or other groups.

* Providing leadership in developing and expanding efforts to increase the number of credentials awarded, with emphasis on programs leading to the attainment of industry-recognized credentials awarded by third parties.

* Serving as the college's contact for apprenticeship training.

* Developing and maintaining competency in utilizing the Workforce Enterprise System (WES).

* Representing the Vice President for Workforce Development and External Relations and the college in interactions with area employers, non-profit organizations, educational institutions and other entities.

* Assisting in developing and carrying out strategic initiatives and in meeting goals established by the department, the college and the Virginia Community College System.

* Assisting in the marketing of workforce development programs and services.

* Performing other duties as assigned.
