Associate Director of Bands Position 981458

Florida Atlantic University invites applicants for position of Associate Director of Bands at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in June 2018.

Working with the Director of Bands to further the strategic objectives of the University Bands program, the Associate Director of Bands will lead the athletic bands at FAU, including the Marching Owls and the Parliament Sound pep band, and conduct the Symphony Band. Other assignments may include applied instrument teaching, music education courses, or other duties appropriate to interest and experience. The successful applicant will provide compelling examples of contemporary marching band drill designs and marching band music arrangements, demonstrate a record of recruiting and retaining students in athletic bands, and show evidence of the organizational and communication skills necessary to manage the athletic band program of a large FBS university.

Qualifications

A doctorate in music with at least four years of relevant teaching experience. Candidates should be prepared to submit additional materials, including video of rehearsal and samples of marching band drill and music arrangements.
