The Department of Horticulture (http://hort.auburn.edu/) at Auburn University is seeking applications for the position of Lecturer and Undergraduate Program Coordinator. The Lecturer position is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track teaching appointment that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of funding, needs of the department and college, and satisfactory performance. In addition, there will be instructional and student-related activities expected during the summer as a separate appointment. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits, including health insurance. The expected start date for this position is January 1, 2018.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses supporting the Landscape Horticulture and/or Nursery and Greenhouse Science curriculum tracks. The incumbent will also develop and serve as instructor of record for one section of Professional Landscape. In addition, they will coordinate the AU student preparation for and participation in the National Association of Landscape Professionals Collegiate Competition event annually. Responsibilities as Undergraduate Program Coordinator will include coordinating departmental scholarship selection and management, leading departmental assessment activities and overseeing activities related to carrying out the departmental writing plan. 

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Horticulture or closely related plant sciences discipline by the expected position start date. Experience in course development, student recruitment in an academic environment and documented excellence in teaching post-secondary level horticulture courses is essential. The candidate must possess excellent teaching, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. The incumbent must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.

Desirable qualifications include: Familiarity with academic program assessment and experience in activities related to college level student service.
