Department of Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, and Deaf Studies
Assistant Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor, Speech Language Pathology
Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor or non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor position to teach speech language pathology in the Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree programs in the Department of Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology and Deaf Studies beginning August 2018. All candidates: Research, clinical, and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: voice disorders, motor speech disorders, or neurogenic communication disorders. Candidates for the tenure-track position: Research Doctoral degree (PhD) degree in speech-language pathology. ABD applications considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2019. Preference given to individuals with ASHA CCC-SLP certification and current (or eligible for) Maryland licensure. Candidates for the non-tenure-track clinical position: Doctoral degree or Master’s degree in speech-language pathology. ASHA CCC-SLP certification and current (or eligible for) Maryland licensure are required. Undergraduate and graduate class instruction; academic advising, university, community and professional service; and interdisciplinary activities. Supervision of clinical services is required for clinical faculty and optional for tenure-track faculty. All faculty must be able to mentor professional writing for undergraduate and graduate students. Tenure-track faculty are assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year. Beginning the second year the workload reverts to the standard instructional workload of six to eight (6-8) course units per academic year, depending on scholarly activity, advising, and clinical supervision responsibilities. Department of Kinesiology – 2 positions
Assistant Professor, Exercise Science
Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor positions in Exercise Science in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2018. Research Doctoral degree in Exercise Science or closely related discipline. ABD applications considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2019. Ability to teach a range of courses in the Exercise Science major that may include: advanced writing for majors, quantitative research methods, exercise physiology and foundations of exercise science. Provide quality instruction primarily in a variety of undergraduate exercise science courses. Conduct research in an area of specialty in Exercise Science that complements the expertise of current faculty and the course offerings. Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Athletic Training
Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position in the Athletic Training Program in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2018. The department currently offers a CAATE accredited program, with a mission to create, incorporate and apply knowledge of human movement as it relates to athletic training. Research Doctoral degree in kinesiology, exercise science, movement science, or a related field, from an accredited institution. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2019. Minimum of five years of certification and good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC, Inc) and must hold or be eligible to apply for Maryland Licensure as an Athletic Trainer by the start of the appointment. Experience in practicing clinical athletic training, and quality teaching at the collegiate or secondary level is expected. Candidates must have focused scholarship in an area related to athletic training. Primary responsibilities include: 1) TEACHING - high-quality instruction in athletic training courses, curriculum development for the Master’s level professional athletic training program and advising of athletic training majors, 2) SCHOLARSHIP-development of a focused area of scholarship that includes refereed publications, professional presentations and involvement in scholarly projects with faculty and students, 3) SERVICE-active participation in the substantive change process, particularly with administrative tasks and curriculum management; participation in faculty meetings, service on department, college or university committees, and contribution to professional organizations. Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Political Science beginning August 2018. PhD in hand at the time of application will receive preference, although ABDs may be considered if the degree will be completed by the Spring of 2018. Teach general survey courses in international relations and upper-level courses focused on the international relations of developing countries. Ability to teach international political economy and/or comparative politics in region of specialization an asset. Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and show a solid potential for a productive scholarly program. Interest in pursuing external funding is desired. Faculty assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year. Beginning the second year the workload reverts back to the standard instructional workload of seven to eight (7-8) course units per academic year. While the position is tenureable within the Political Science Department, the successful applicant will contribute three courses per year to the university’s International Studies Program. Director of Choral Activities, Assistant Professor
Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Music beginning August 2018. Earned Doctorate in music. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by August 1, 2018. College/University level teaching experience desired. Evidence of successful and significant public school, university, and/or professional experience with a strong record of achievement as a conductor, educator and recruiter. Conduct and supervise the coordination and administration of all aspects of the choral program, and work collegially with students, faculty and staff in a multi-faceted performing arts program. Recruit students by building and maintaining relationships with state and regional secondary and community college music educators. Develop and sustain strong relationships with the local, regional and national choral community (including urban, suburban, and rural secondary schools), through school visits, workshop presentations, Towson University’s High School Choral Festival, and guest conducting.
