California State University Channel Islands seeks applications and nominations for the position of Dean of Extended University and Associate Vice President for International Programs. The new Dean and AVP will be an innovative leader who embraces CSUCI’s student centered values and is ready to be both entrepreneurial in a wide range of program development and deeply committed to international experiences and perspectives at a vibrant, rapidly growing university.

 

Founded in 2002 and located midway between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and 10 minutes from the Pacific Ocean, CSUCI is the newest campus of the California State University, the largest system of public higher education in the United States. The campus currently serves over 7,000 students. At its full capacity the campus will serve more than 15,000 students (www.csuci.edu). CSUCI offers 25 undergraduate majors, ten graduate degrees, a joint doctorate in educational leadership, and a variety of certificate and teaching credential programs.

CSUCI is a Hispanic-Serving Institution that values the diversity of its students and community. The current student body is 48% Hispanic, 44% Pell Recipient, and 59% first-generation college students. Over half of CSUCI’s undergraduates are transfers from community colleges. CSUCI is deeply committed to serving and developing all of its students.

In the role of the Dean of Extended University, the successful candidate will have chief administrative oversight of all aspects of self-supported academic programs including new degree credit and non-credit programs; summer session; workforce development; distance learning; fundraising and grants; management of budget, personnel, and facilities; and responsibility for meeting specific accreditation requirements. As Associate Vice President for International Programs, the successful candidate will be responsible for broad Academic Affairs and University-wide initiatives including leadership of international programs, outreach and pursuit of public-private collaborations, direction of satellite campus operations, graduate special session degree program administration, and other initiatives with campus-wide impact. The ideal candidate will have an earned terminal degree and significant experience in areas over which the Dean and AVP will have responsibility.
