INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNERS
NYU School of Professional Studies
Center for Academic Excellence and Support
The Center for Academic Excellence and Support is seeking both
permanent and temporary instructional designers to apply optimal
methods of instructional design, while partnering with subject
matter experts on the development of traditional and online
learning environments. Serve as a consultant to faculty with regard
to analyzing learning needs, application of various instructional
design models and delivery systems to meet those needs, and tools
to achieve and measure student learning outcomes. Select
appropriate learning theories; develop course and program
assessment methods; create of engaging instructional activities;
meet accessibility and compliance requirements, and evaluate and
effective use of innovative instructional technologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree
in instructional design, education, education technology or related
field strongly preferred. 5 to 7 years’ experience in the
design and development of innovative curriculum design in higher
education using diverse learning theories, evidence-based
pedagogical strategies and educational technologies in multiple
modalities required. Serves as primary contributor in course
development projects partnering with subject matter experts and
faculty. Must include experience in global program.
Master’s degree in instructional design, education, educational
technology or related field and 7-10 years experience in the
design and development of innovative curriculum design in higher
education, and university-level teaching in-person and/or online
also strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will have a commitment to international
education, academic rigor, understanding of intercultural issues,
and a dedication to fostering student learning and intercultural
competence. S/he must be flexible in adjusting to unusual
situations and hours of work, with the ability to accommodate the
challenges of global communication. S/he should possess
excellent operational, analytical, oral and written communication
skills, the ability to problem solve and work efficiency.
S/he must also have the creative and interpersonal skills necessary
to work across cultures and within a team.
Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, evidence-based
instructional design models, innovative instructional technology
and distance education.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with
curriculum, assessment, and measurable learning
outcomes. S/he will also have experience in developing,
implementing and supporting successful faculty development programs
regarding optimal instructional design and effective learning and
teaching strategies. Knowledge of various learning management
systems and educational technology tools, such as Captivate, to
create online instructional content is preferred as well as success
in supporting diverse faculty and student populations.
