The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks an Academic Director and Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Sports Management for the Tisch Institute for Sports Management, Media, and Business. This is a nine-month, one-year renewable faculty appointment, with a concurrent eleven-month administrative appointment effective January 1, 2018. The rank of the position is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
 
Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Tisch Institute for Sports Management, Media, and Business, the Academic Director will oversee the Masters degree program to advance the academic mission of the Institute. S/he will be responsible for development of curriculum to ensure it is consistent with the needs of the sports industry it serves.  The Academic Director will also work in a collaborative manner with key stakeholders—industry executives, alumni, and adjunct faculty—to serve its students and distinguish the Masters degree program from its peers. S/he will work closely with the Associate Dean to carry out a vision for the Institute that succeeds in increasing its profile and visibility nationally and internationally. 

The Tisch Institute for Sports Management, Media, and Business enjoys an international reputation for innovative undergraduate and graduate professional studies. Through its scholar-practitioner faculty and its deep and mutually supportive connections to the New York and global industry communities, the Tisch Institute is among the most recognized educators in sports business. Additionally, its noncredit professional education programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops collectively serve the universe of professionals in the sports business community.

Through an undergraduate degree in sports management and a graduate degree in sports business, a wide-range of noncredit programs, and industry-focused conferences, the Institute provides students with the tools to manage change, effectively communicate, thrive in complex work environments, and advance the business of sports.

The Tisch Institute’s eight full-time and nearly 50 adjunct faculty members, along with its distinguished guest lecturers, prepare approximately 450 matriculated undergraduate and graduate students to become innovative leaders in their chosen fields. 

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess advanced academic and professional credentials (Ph.D., or comparable advanced terminal degree), and a minimum of three years teaching experience in higher education, combined with administrative experience in a university academic department. Demonstrated experience supervising full-time or adjunct faculty and staff is preferred.

The successful candidate will preferably have 5+ years of work experience in the sports industry. S/he will be intimately familiar with the dynamic, contemporary sports industry issues including, digital disruption, big data/analytics, and global sports trends. Also, the successful candidate will have prior experience in curriculum development, especially at the graduate level, working with instructional designers, utilizing technology in the classroom, and possess a strong track record of developing curriculum that ensures learning outcomes are met.
