PROVOST

St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost. The Provost reports directly to the President, serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet, and is responsible for the University’s undergraduate and graduate programs. The Associate Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs and the Deans of the Schools of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Education, Arts and Humanities, Business, and Natural Sciences report to the Provost. The Provost also provides leadership to the academic administrative offi ces including Academic Affairs, Global Initiatives, Academic Support, the Munday Library, the Registrar and Sponsored Programs. The Provost will assume these responsibilities on July 1, 2018.

The university, with 4,600 students, is an independent Catholic university, which has increasingly gained national recognition for its high quality academic programs. St. Edward’s has achieved considerable growth, innovation and accomplishment since 1999, including doubling the size of its freshman class, being listed for eight years as a top producer of Fulbright Students and investing $300 million in its campus facilities and technology. The provost will have a unique window of opportunity to partner with deans to strengthen the academic schools, develop new and innovative programs, improve retention and graduation rates, and advance the goals established in the new Strategic Plan 2022.

The successful candidate will have earned a doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution, possess a record of teaching and scholarly success meriting tenure, possess a substantial record of effective administrative experience at the dean’s level or above, provide evidence of the leadership skills requisite to guiding an institution through ongoing growth and change, and have a signifi cant track record of successful higher-level, creative, and visionary leadership in campus-wide academic initiatives.

Austin is a great place to work, live and play, regularly appearing on lists of “best places to live” in the U.S. It’s a welcoming environment with 300+ days of sunshine, 200+ parks, three lakes, and an average temperature of 71 degrees in November. Austin is home to corporate headquarters including Facebook, Google, Apple and 17 companies on the Inc. 5000 list. This translates directly into opportunities for our students and a higher quality of life for our entire community.

The Provost Search Committee will begin reviewing applications in November with the goal of finalizing the appointment by early 2018. Applications will be received and considered until the position is filled; however, for full consideration, applications should be submitted by November 20, 2017. Applications must include a letter of interest, a resume and fi ve professional references with email addresses and telephone numbers (references will not be contacted without prior authorization from the applicant). Applications and nominations should be sent electronically (PDF or MS Word Format) to: stedwardsprovost@agbsearch.com.
