The Board of Trustees and the Search Committee of Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) invite interested and qualified individuals to apply for the position of President. The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the College, working under the general direction of a seven member elected Board of Trustees. The next President will assume leadership of a College that has well documented strengths, both internally and externally. She/he will lead strategic planning and budgeting and manage ongoing initiatives which will improve and enrich the communities and students the College serves. The Board of Trustees seeks a strong, caring leader whose ethics, integrity and consensus building management style will enable him/her to quickly become an integral part of the College and the community. The next President will be expected to develop strong relationships at the local, state and national levels and be committed to continuing the welcoming, friendly environment that defines KVCC. The next President must possess strong analytical skills and be prepared to share data in a clear manner with internal and external communities. Celebrating its 50th year of growth, Kalamazoo Valley Community College is located midway between Chicago and Detroit and serves the district through four campuses: Arcadia Commons, Bronson Healthy Living, Groves and Texas Township. The College has an annual operating budget of $60 million, and in 2016 served 12,595 credit and non-credit students. KVCC has strong partnerships with area colleges and universities and houses a University Center which enables students to earn a bachelor degree without leaving the College. KVCC also offers an Early College and is successfully developing Guided Pathways models.

Required and Desirable Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate is required
  • Demonstrated successful senior executive experience is required
  • Significant responsibility for programs, budgets, personnel, facilities and contract negotiations is required
  • Proven leadership abilities coupled with excellent communication skills and a collaborative administrative style is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, business, industry, governmental entities and the community is required
  • Community college experience is desirable
