Content Experts for NYUSPS Global Executive Certificates

The NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) is developing a series of Executive Certificate programs that are built for working professionals in Japan. This noncredit microcredential will be delivered at NYUSPS Tokyo and is designed specifically for the needs of Japanese industry. These applied programs are targeted at mid- to high-level professionals who work in global contexts and want to advance their skills. Each program is competency-based and designed for students who want to enhance their proficiency in certain industry areas, producing skill-based outcomes that are directly applicable in the workplace. Drawing on pedagogic models refined through many decades of NYUSPS delivering professional education in New York, and centered around an approach focused on decision and application, the Executive Certificate curriculum will also be localized to reflect the unique demands of each target sector in Japan. The programs are prescriptive and each certificate will be comprised of a four-course sequence. The proposed topics for the Executive Certificates are listed below.

NYUSPS is currently recruiting content experts who can contribute to the curricular design of these Executive Certificates. Instruction in these programs will be delivered by local experts in Tokyo; Japan-based adjunct lecturers will also add to the curriculum and advise on how to localize the content for the Japanese context.

Content experts will be expected to contribute the following:

  • Vision: professional expertise and experience that is current, cutting-edge and impactful. This will inform content development so that students can learn how to be more effective and achieve their professional aspirations.
  • Credibility: drawing on the aforementioned expertise, the content expert will affirm the accuracy and applicability of the program content.
  • Content selection: narrowing down on program objectives and outcomes, the content expert will demonstrate what must be covered throughout the certificate curriculum and in each course.
  • Content evaluation: sifting through a wide array of potential lessons, the content expert will focus in on what is immediately applicable and relevant for the purposes of the student.
  • Content form: informing on content delivery and lesson format helps enforce pedagogic goals and achieve program outcomes.
  • Reference: resources and practical exposure are critical to this model of professional education, and the content expert is expected to make recommendations on course materials and other learning resources that will reinforce the learning journey throughout the duration of each certificate.
