School of Education

Syracuse University’s program in Instructional Design, Development & Evaluation (IDD&E) seeks an energetic researcher and promising scholar to fill a full-time, tenure-track, assistant professor position in a well-established program and provide vision and leadership to ensure continued national prominence. We seek an individual with strong expertise and research interest in (1) instructional design and (2) program evaluation to serve our graduate programs in IDD&E. The department offers professional certificates, master’s and doctoral degrees.

The new faculty member will be teaching graduate courses in instructional design and program evaluation, and will have a unique opportunity to participate in the integration of instructional systems and technology across a collaborative and technologically sophisticated campus. IDD&E has a distinguished history of domestic and international research and development within various educational settings, business, industry, health care, military, and government contexts. The department enjoys very strong support from alumni and is highly respected within the University, as well as within the professional community.

Candidates should have an earned doctorate in a relevant field such as instructional design, instructional technology, learning sciences, educational psychology, and curriculum and instruction; extensive practical experiences in applied field-based design and program evaluation; at least two years of experiences in higher education or business/ government, with desired experience in university teaching and student advisement; a strong research agenda, a proven record of scholarly publications; a professional network of domestic and international colleagues; and entrepreneurial leadership. Willingness to work in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary setting is essential. We look for colleagues to make substantial collegial contributions in sponsored research, thus funded grant writing experience is preferred. It is expected that this faculty member will teach within IDD&E, actively pursue a research agenda, and provide service to the university, school, department, and relevant professional communities. Start date: August 2018.

Candidates must complete an on-line application at www.sujobopps.com and submit a current curriculum vita; cover letter explaining your interest in the position; an integrated statement that includes the candidate’s teaching philosophy, research interests, and service and leadership; and, contact information for three (3) letters of recommendation.

Interested candidates may access the IDD&E website at http://idde.syr.edu. Inquiries should be sent to Dr. Jing Lei, Department Chair of IDD&E, and Chair of the IDD&E Faculty Search Committee, School of Education, Syracuse University, 259 Huntington Hall, Syracuse, NY 13244-2340 (e-mail: idde@syr.edu ; telephone +1 315 443 3703).
