Vice President for Student Affairs

Weber State University in Ogden, Utah offers an outstanding opportunity for a qualified, highly energetic and ambitious professional to become the next Vice President for Student Affairs. Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President of Student Affairs serves on a strong and well-established President’s Council. The Student Affairs Division offers educational experiences, leadership opportunities, and academic support to advance the social, intellectual, cultural, and civic development of students. The Vice President over this Division promotes student success through comprehensive services and programs provided in an inclusive environment. In tandem with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs actively engages in multiple initiatives to improve recruitment, retention, and successful graduation of students.

WSU is a regional university based in Ogden, Utah with a nearby Davis County Campus and other satellite campuses. The University, founded in 1889, emphasizes undergraduate education and has an enrollment of more than 27,000 students. Core values include access, learning, and community, as evidenced in our open admissions policy, low faculty to student ratio (1:20), and Carnegie designation as a Community-Engaged Campus. Weber State has experienced significant enrollment growth and a year ago completed a successful comprehensive fundraising campaign, exceeding the $125M goal by over $40M, thereby helping to ensure stability and growth for the future. The University offers 275 academic majors that can lead to an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, plus fourteen programs leading to master’s degrees. Required: The successful candidate will have a terminal doctoral-level degree plus 7-10 years progressive experience with a successful record of student affairs leadership and administration including strategic planning, assessment, budgeting, resource management and program development. A commitment to shared governance, as well as the promotion of diversity is expected.

Environment: Ogden is an historic and vibrant metropolitan area providing affordable options for urban or country living at the base of the beautiful Wasatch Mountain range. Numerous cultural and year round recreational opportunities abound both in Ogden and the highly cosmopolitan Salt Lake City area, a 35-minute drive. Mountains, rivers, and lakes are at our doorstep; twelve national parks and monuments are within a day’s drive.
