The Department of Spanish and Portuguese is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Latin American Studies specializing in the 19th and early 20th centuries Mexico and/or 19th and early 20th centuries Hispanic Caribbean. The successful candidate will be a recent Ph.D. or ABD (Ph.D. expected July 1, 2018) and must demonstrate both highly promising scholarship and experience in teaching Spanish at the university level.  We seek outstanding candidates with a strong interdisciplinary and theoretical foundation. Native or near-native ability in Spanish required.

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese is a vibrant, diverse group of colleagues who share a dedication to producing innovative scholarship and creative pedagogical approaches, in line with Dartmouth’s high standards of research, teaching, and service. Our faculty are engaged in collaborative research and teaching within the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and with colleagues from other departments, programs, and centers such as Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies, Comparative Literature, Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities Studies, Leslie Humanities Center, and Dartmouth's Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs.
