Anderson University invites applications for an assistant professor of European History—field and period open—beginning August 2018.  We invite candidates whose scholarship and teaching present Europe within a global or transnational context.  The successful applicant will teach University Core Curriculum Courses in Historical Perspectives, and World Civilizations and will be invited to revise upper division offerings to reflect teaching strengths and best practices.  Special consideration will be given to applicants with the ability to offer courses on South or East Asia, the Middle East or Africa. A Ph.D. is required.

Anderson University recognizes three paths for faculty employment: annual appointment, professional path, and tenure track. Faculty in the Professional Path focus on teaching and learning and are evaluated on mission fit, teaching and learning, and service; and they are able to promote through professorial ranks. After six years of exemplary service, faculty on the Professional Path become eligible for multi-year contracts.  Faculty on tenure track focus initially on teaching and learning, but they are evaluated on mission fit, teaching and learning, service, and scholarship.  Tenure-track faculty promote through professorial ranks and are eligible for tenure status in year six.

Anderson University is Located in South Carolina’s Upstate region, in a growing and thriving community with award-winning public schools with convenient access to major cities and year-round outdoor recreation. AU is an academic community affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention, providing a challenging education grounded in the liberal arts, enhanced by professional and graduate programs and a co-curricular focus on the development of character, servant leadership, and cultural engagement. Candidates with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle, and commitment to the integration of faith and learning are encouraged to apply.

Review of applications begins immediately. To ensure full consideration, please send a letter of application, curriculum vita, statement of teaching philosophy, and an Anderson University faculty application to:
