The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College at Florida Atlantic University seeks applications for a full-time, renewable Instructor position in French and Spanish. The two-semester course load is 3-4, and Instructors may also supervise Independent Study and senior honors theses. The position begins August 11, 2018.

 

The successful candidate will teach a selection of beginning to upper-level undergraduate French and Spanish courses; and occasional survey courses on French/Spanish literature and culture in English.

 

Additional duties include academic advising, participating in faculty committees, directing senior theses, supervising Directed Independent Study courses and internships, participating in recruiting efforts, participating in French/Spanish honor societies, and other duties as assigned by the chair.

Qualifications:

 

PhD from an accredited institution in either French or Spanish or closely-related discipline with substantial graduate work (minimum of 18 graduate credits) in the other language.

 

Proof of excellence in language and culture instruction at the undergraduate level in French and Spanish language courses.

 

Evidence of native or near-native fluency in French, Spanish, and English.

 

Demonstrated commitment to innovative teaching, student success, collegiality, and continuous improvement in a liberal arts and sciences environment.
