Job Description:

The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

 

Teaching: Primary teaching responsibilities for this position include undergraduate Recreation Administration courses from the required core courses and electives within the major, which are delivered on campus, off campus, or potentially online.  The candidate will also teach 1-2 graduate courses during the regular academic year. Advise undergraduate students.

 

Scholarship: Maintain awareness of current research trends and topics in Recreation. Maintain an active role in research and scholarly production including publishing in peer-reviewed journals and securing research funding (internal and/or external).

 

Service: Actively participate in university service (departmental, college, and university committees) and professional service. Actively participate in recruitment and retention efforts.

 

Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

 
Requirements:

Candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • An earned doctorate in Recreation, Leisure, or closely related field. ABD candidates with anticipated graduation by August 2018 will be considered. 
  • Teaching experience
  • Interest, ability, and flexibility to teach courses within the program's core.
  • Articulate a well-defined research agenda in the area of recreation/leisure with the potential for research funding.
  • Demonstrated professional work experience in the recreation field.
