Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Interactive Design faculty position in the Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design, College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

 

Position Responsibilities:

The Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design at Kennesaw State University seeks a 9-month, tenure-track, assistant professor to primarily support our Interactive Design degree focusing on user interface design. Typical teaching load is 3/3 and faculty may be asked to teach other courses in the department as needed.

Ideal candidates for the position will have an active interest in digital design, web/app development, and have teaching experience in several of the following areas: user interface design, front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), design thinking, agile/mobile design, and/or data visualization.

Faculty at KSU teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. A commitment to excellence in teaching, an active and innovative research/creative activity agenda, and service to the institution are expected of all faculty members in KSU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

 

Required Education, qualifications, and experience:

Terminal degree (PhD, MFA, other) in hand by August 1, 2018 in Interactive Design or related studies or the foreign equivalent is required, as well as a record of effective university teaching and demonstrated potential for research or creative activity. Applicants with the training, ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be considered.

 

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest college at KSU, enrolling more that 7000 students in over 30 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design (TCID) at Kennesaw State University is the newest department in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. We currently offer two undergraduate degrees: a BS in Interactive Design and a BS in Technical Communication.
