The Department of Political Science and Economics is housed in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.  The College supports students to earn degrees that provide a high quality liberal arts education (problem-solving aptitude, strong oral communications, asking good questions; respect others point of view), which at the same time prepare them for diverse career paths and future. The College’s graduate programs also provide students with essential skills for continuing study through doctoral programs and for lifelong learning, including critical thinking, effective communication, and an understanding of the complexity of contemporary society in the context of diverse traditions and paradigms.

The Department of Political Science and Economics has an opening for one tenure-track Assistant Professor or a junior Associate Professor in either Economics or Political Science with a specialization in Political Economy beginning Fall 2018. We seek candidates with research and teaching interests in Political Economy.  The position is open with respect to the substantive focus in political economy, broadly defined (e.g., comparative or international political economy, political economy of public/social choice, political economy of development, etc.).

The department offers two bachelor degree programs in both economics and political science. A 3/3 teaching load is guaranteed for the first five years and can be renewed annually after the 6th year and attaining tenure with evidence of continuing scholarship. This is an interdisciplinary position where the faculty will teach 2 classes in one discipline and 1 class in the other discipline. The successful candidate will also teach calculus-based Intermediate Microeconomics to economics majors.

A Ph.D. in Economics, Political Science or related discipline must be completed by July 31, 2018. 

Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching is required. Applicants should demonstrate strong research abilities and the potential to secure external funding for research.
