Steve W. Chaddick School
Chair
School of Electrical and
Computer Engineering
The College of Engineering at the Georgia Institute of
Technology is seeking nominations and applications for the position
of the Steve W. Chaddick School Chair of the School of Electrical
and Computer Engineering (ECE). The School of ECE is the largest
ECE school in the nation: 110 full-time faculty members, 1,419
undergraduates, and 1,137 graduate students with an annual
operating budget, including external funding, of approximately $90
million. The School offers two bachelor degrees (electrical
engineering, computer engineering), and master’s and doctoral
degrees in electrical and computer engineering. All ECE degree
programs consistently rank in the top six by U.S. News &
World Report and regularly draw top notch students both
domestic and international. In addition to the main campus in
Atlanta, ECE has students and faculty at the Georgia Tech Lorraine
campus in France and has a number of other international
educational programs at sites that include China, Germany and
Italy.
Owing to the School of ECE’s size and quality, decisions made here
reverberate on a national scale. The diverse faculty broadly
represents all areas of research and education in ECE including:
Bioengineering, Computer Systems and Software, Digital Signal
Processing, Electrical Energy, Electromagnetics, Electronic Design
and Applications, Microelectronics/Microsystems, Optics and
Photonics, Systems and Controls, Telecommunications, and VLSI
Systems and Digital Design. Much of the research of the School is
conducted through internationally recognized interdisciplinary
centers. Additional information may be found at https://www.ece.gatech.edu/research/.
The Steve W. Chaddick School Chair reports to the Dean of the
College of Engineering and has overall responsibility for the
academic and research programs of ECE, including all
administrative, budgetary, and personnel decisions, and external
affairs. A candidate for the position must have a doctoral degree
and international recognition in his/her specific discipline(s)
with a record of excellence in technical, academic and professional
achievements. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to
engineering education, interdisciplinary research,
entrepreneurship, diversity, and inclusion. Candidates should have
the strategic skills and vision necessary to advance ECE within a
rapidly evolving multi-disciplinary and high-technology
environment.
Applications and nominations should include a letter of interest,
curriculum vitae and names and address of five references.
Electronic submission of nominations and materials is preferred and
should be submitted to: ece-search@coe.gatech.edu.
Review of application materials will begin November 15,
2017 and will continue until the position is filled.
