The college invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Creative Writing: Fiction, at the Assistant Professor level, to begin Sept. 1, 2018.

The successful candidate will develop and teach courses for our Creative Writing curriculum, with particular emphasis in prose fiction. The ideal candidate will also be prepared to teach courses within other concentrations, and may offer innovative courses within MCLA's Core Curriculum (general education).

As a public liberal arts institution, MCLA places a high value on excellence in teaching and mentoring, and we seek a dynamic and versatile colleague who is dedicated to the craft of teaching. The ideal candidate will be interested in fostering relationships with regional literary arts organizations such as Tupelo Press, Storey Publishing, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, and others, and will develop internships for students to work with such organizations.

Requirements:

  • Earned Ph.D. or M.F.A. (from a 60-credit hour program) in Creative Writing, English or related fields is required. ABDs with a firm date of completion will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching creative writing and literature courses strongly preferred
  • A record of publication preferred.
