Primary Purpose
The location of this appointment will be negotiated with the
final candidate, at either the Pocatello or Meridian Campus. The
Dean is responsible for external and internal leadership and
management with the School of Nursing. The Dean is the academic and
operational leader of the School and has oversight for strategic
planning, budgeting, development, enhancement initiatives, assuring
external funding to support growth of the School, faculty
development, accreditation and professional standards. The Dean is
responsible for day-to-day management of faculty, staff and
students, and for creating innovative opportunities to assure the
development and progression of student educational experiences. The
Dean is expected to enhance scholarship, ensure student
satisfaction, provide collaborative leadership to faculty and
staff, and promote the School through enhancement of external
relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic planning, development, enhancement initiatives, assuring external funding to support growth of the SON, faculty development, accreditation and professional standards, and day-to-day management of SON faculty, staff and students.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Nursing.
• Administrative experience in nursing education.
• A track record of and scholarship (funded and scholarly publications) and teaching. Interdisciplinary activities preferred.
• Superior communication skills: written, verbal, and listening.
• A caring and collaborative management style.
• Understanding of budgeting and financial planning.
• Desire to work in a rural setting.
• Hold or be eligible to obtain an RN license in the state of Idaho prior to appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful Accreditation background as well as transitioning from a School of Nursing to a College of Nursing experience is highly preferred.
