The College of Education at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for the Associate Dean for Educator Preparation at a full professor rank (12-month appointment) beginning August 1, 2018. Reporting directly to the dean of the College of Education, the associate dean serves as the chief academic administrator for educator preparation and will have experience with NCATE/CAEP accreditation and credentialing requirements for education professions. This individual should have a strong record of academic leadership and commitment to academic excellence and innovative program delivery and design. As well, the associate dean will have an earned doctorate in teacher education, a strong record of research, external funding, higher education teaching, and professional service. Experience with online program development and functions is essential as well as evidence of successful collaboration between university, school district, community college, and other community partners. The successful candidate must qualify for appointment as full professor in the College of Education, be an experienced PK – 12 teacher (with current or expired teaching credentials), and be willing to support the college in maintaining smooth, efficient, and effective operations.

 

Duties of the Associate Dean for Educator Preparation include:

  • Assisting in the coordination of program evaluation and accreditation;
  • Ensuring that all educator preparation programs are in compliance with state, regional, and national accreditation requirements, including TEA, SACS, CAEP, and other national agencies;
  • Attending and representing the college at national and state education agency and professional association meetings;
  • Providing leadership for external educator preparation programs including professional development schools, teacher residency programs, and international education experiences;
  • Establishing and managing partnerships with school districts, community colleges, community agencies, universities, and international partners;
  • Chairing various committees for the college;
  • Providing direct supervision of the Accelerated Online Education Hub;
  • Leading the submission of research grants related to educator preparation; and
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for all educator preparation programming

 

Home to 2,400 students, 40 faculty members, and 25 staff members, the College of Education not only prepares education professionals to lead North Texas in a dynamic and changing environment, but also contributes to the national dialogue surrounding education in the 21st Century. The College has two departments: Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with more than 800 graduates in 2016.
