Faculty Member – Global Pediatric Medicine Director of Global Education

 The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine and the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences invite applications for one faculty position at the Associate Member or Member level to direct the St. Jude Global Education Program. This position holds an adjunct leadership position at the St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences as Assistant Dean for Global Education and serves as an integral member of the development team for the educational section of St Jude’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced educator to transform the delivery educational programs for healthcare providers and researchers globally.

In this critical role, the Director of Global Education will be part of the newly created Department of Global Pediatric Medicine staff, which includes 11 faculty positions and support infrastructure and personnel for the development of regional capacity and research networks in resource-limited settings. Faculty members include leading researchers in the areas of health systems, health services, decision analysis, clinical trial development, and implementation science. This department is the core of St. Jude Global and develops St. Jude’s global clinical, educational, and research activities. Regional programs and networks have been developed in Mexico, Central and South America, Eastern Mediterranean, China, and Asia Pacific regions, and additional programs in Sub-Saharan Africa and Central Asia are under development.  The St. Jude Global Academy is key to the success of the program through the development of educational programs for healthcare providers and researchers to create a transformative workforce globally. The St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences offers a doctoral degree in biomedical sciences and has welcomed its inaugural class in the 2017-2018 academic year; a graduate degree in global child health is planned.

Leading the overall direction of the St. Jude Global Academy, the Director of Global Education will be instrumental in developing and growing St. Jude’s global education initiatives. With the aim of training the next generation of clinicians around the world, the Director will oversee the St. Jude Global Academy, including five distinctive initiatives; distance learning programs, global medicine fellowships, on-campus workshops and seminars, regional education programs, and the graduate degree program in global child health.

Qualified candidates will possess the following experience:

  • A minimum of seven to ten years of teaching and research experience at a tier one university;
  • Strategic vision and established competency in incorporating technology into blended learning and flipped classroom environments;
  • Proven ability in the design and development of curricula;
  • Proficiency in managing an intramural and/or extramural education program;
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills; and
  • A willingness to travel globally.

 Compensation is very competitive and commensurate with experience.
