The Executive Vice Dean for Academic Affairs (EVD) will direct academic and faculty affairs, advise and support the Dean, provide additional leadership for the College to achieve its strategic goals, and work collaboratively with all other Associate Deans, Meyers Faculty Council, and other academic units of the university in sustaining and accelerating the excellence and growth of NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing (Meyers). The EVD is responsible for the Assistant Dean for Clinical (continuing contract) and Adjunct Faculty and a half time administrative support staff.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  1. Facilitates faculty recruitment, retention, appointment, and progression to promotion and/or tenure:
    1. Provides annual review of all full time tenure/tenure track faculty
    2. Oversees annual review of full time clinical (continuing contract) faculty
  2. Coordinates yearly evaluation of the Five Year Strategic Plan.
  3. Partners with the Associate Dean for Business, Finance, and Planning to assure appropriate administrative structures that advance the academic mission of Meyers.
  4. Works with Dean, Associate Dean for Innovative Partnerships to establish interdisciplinary and interprofessional linkages across NYU and externally to NYU to further Meyers mission and strategic plan.
  5. Serves on the Deans Leadership Team, Deans Leadership Coordinating Council, and serves as ex-officio to the Faculty Council Search and AP/APT Committees. Assures adherence of policies and processes Search and AP/APT Committees.
  6. Serves as the Appeals Officer for resolution of student and faculty (excepting tenure) conflicts and issues.
  7. Collaborates with the Dean and Associate Deans in executing responsibilities and policies, including the allocation and utilization of space and resources appropriate to the faculty needs and to support the academic mission. Assures academic accountability, quality and administrative operations.
  8. Leads mentorship program for faculty development in teaching and faculty research progression in collaboration with Associate Dean for Research and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs.
  9. Serves as designee representing the Dean as requested for university and other activities.
