Middle Tennessee State University is seeking a creative and dynamic individual to lead the College of Liberal Arts and invites applications for the position of Dean. Located in historic Murfreesboro, Tennessee, one of the largest and fastest growing cities in the state, located 35 miles south of Nashville. MTSU currently enrolls more than 22,000 students.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Serve as the chief academic and administrative officer for the college concerning MTSU and MTSU Board of Trustees policies, curriculum for undergraduate, masters, and PhD programs;
  • Lead the development of plans and continuous improvement processes for the College of Liberal Arts which is comprised of eleven (11) diverse academic departments;
  • Provide leadership for Chairs/Directors, faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students, and;
  • Responsible for the development efforts of the college.

Job qualifications include:

  • Terminal degree in a represented discipline of the College;
  • Three years administrative experience in higher education at the level of chair or above in a supervisory capacity;
  • Eligibility to be tenured in one of the departments of the College, and;
  • Research and teaching accomplishments sufficient to merit rank of full professor.

Appointment date is July 1, 2018. Tenure upon appointment is possible.  Salary is commensurate with experience. MTSU also provides a generous employee benefits package.
