Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full time, tenure track faculty position in the Department of English and Communication Studies to begin August 2018. We seek a colleague with a strong commitment to undergraduate education in the liberal arts tradition who is a flexible educator able to cover a wide array of courses in the department. 

Requirements for the position include:

  • D. in English, with a specialization in British literature. ABD considered with assurance of completion no later than August 2018.
  • Ability to teach both general survey courses in British literature as well as upper-division courses in Shakespeare.
  • Significant experience teaching composition.
  • Willingness to teach 2 courses per semester of the 4/4 teaching load in the university’s first-year writing program.
  • Understanding and support of the mission of Texas Lutheran 

In our considerations, preference will be given to candidates with additional specializations in postcolonial/migration/diaspora studies, queer studies, and/or composition theory.

 

The interdisciplinary TLU Department of English and Communication Studies (http://www.tlu.edu/academics/programs/english), with the affiliated Composition Program, also houses the Directors of the Women’s Studies Program and the Mexican American Studies Program. Students often double-major or minor in the department’s offerings. Students work toward a capstone thesis project which they defend to department faculty.
