The Department of Computer Science at James Madison University
invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the
Assistant Professor level to begin August 2018. Exceptional

Applicants from all areas of specialization are encouraged to apply. We especially welcome candidates with a background in Software Engineering, Database Systems, Web and Mobile Development, Programming Languages or Artificial Intelligence. We also welcome candidates with experience or interest in promoting diversity within the discipline. Preference will be given to applicants who can provide high quality teaching at the undergraduate level with the potential to develop an active, undergraduate-oriented research program. A Ph.D. (or ABD) in Computer Science or a closely related field at the time of employment is required. Faculty in the Department of Computer Science are expected to make contributions in teaching, scholarship and service (professional, university and departmental).
The JMU Computer Science department is a dynamic and supportive
community with 18 full-time faculty members and approximately 550
undergraduate majors. We offer an online M.S. Degree in Information
Security with approximately 40 students. The Department has many
active clubs and organizations including Women in Technology,
Robotics, Forensics, Cyber Defense and a student ACM chapter.
Computer Science students are actively involved outside the
university as well, participating in SIGSCE, regional and national
cyber defense competitions, ACM programming competitions and the
Grace Hopper conference. Additional information about the
