The Department of World Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of French, beginning in the fall of 2018.  Ph.D. required at time of employment.

 

Applicants must possess a strong desire to teach and pursue research in a liberal arts environment with a reputation for excellent teaching. The successful candidate will teach language, literature, and culture. The priority fields are Francophone Studies with focus

on gender and/or media. Particular attention will be given to candidates with an interest in sub-Saharan Africa, the French Caribbean, and/or multiculturalism in contemporary France. Candidates must be willing to develop new courses to help shape an evolving curriculum. The college offers excellent research support and has been the recipient of a major grant from the Mellon Foundation supporting a Media and Film minor. The standard teaching load is five courses per year.

Your teaching statement should speak to your ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion, and it should provide specific examples that demonstrate this ability.
