The Ethnic Studies Department at UCSD seeks to hire an assistant professor working in the area of Critical Muslim Studies and its intersections with race, gender, sexuality, decoloniality, Islamophobia and/or critical theory. We seek a colleague whose work theorizes the racialization of Muslims in the context of law, history, politics, science and/or culture. Scholars with multi-lingual facility are especially encouraged to apply. Minimum qualifications for the position include a PhD and extensive research and teaching experience in a relevant field in the social sciences or humanities. The ideal candidate will strengthen our department’s commitment to the relational and transnational study of race, and can proficiently teach generalist courses in Ethnic Studies as well as specialty courses in their chosen area.
