Winona State University invites you to join our Community of Learners as our Associate Vice President for Inclusion & Diversity/Chief Diversity Officer (AVP/CDO). As our AVP/CDO, you will be responsible for providing innovative leadership to establish “inclusive excellence” and “diversity” as core values throughout all aspects of our comprehensive regional state University community.
Additionally, the AVP/CDO
(1) leads and facilitates the development and implementation of a strategic plan for inclusion and diversity, aligned with the university strategic plan, with a focus on student academic achievement and faculty and staff engagement; (2) coordinates with others to provide diversity and inclusive programs and initiatives across the University;
(3) collaborates with others to create and deliver co-curricular programming and initiatives designed to enhance and expand recruitment, retention, graduation and career placement of geographically underrepresented, underserved students; (4) provides leadership and/or partnership at all levels of the university to promote and evaluate progress and impact of efforts to be an inclusive and welcoming environment; and (5) represents the university on matters related to inclusion and diversity.
You will also serve as a member of the Council of Administrators, advise the President’s Cabinet, and maintain strong collaborative working relationships among administration, faculty, staff, students and external constituents. Along with the Affirmative Action Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer, you will provide leadership to the campus on issues of equity, social justice, safety, inclusiveness, and a welcoming learning/working environments.
Minimum qualifications for this position are (1) a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, preferably in education, social sciences, human relations, behavior sciences or relevant discipline; (2) five years of relevant, successful and progressive experience in an organizational leadership position with responsibility for diversity and inclusion initiatives and programs; and (3) demonstrated experience managing a comprehensive diversity program, including curriculum development, organizational development and institutional changes.
