Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory’s original campus in Oxford, Georgia, Oxford College invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Arabic Studies to begin August 2018. Teaching responsibilities include three courses per semester, typically the elementary and intermediate Arabic language and culture courses, introductory and intermediate courses in Middle Eastern Civilizations, and courses in the candidate’s area of specialization that will contribute to the Arabic Studies major and/or the interdisciplinary Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies (MESAS) major. 

   

Preferred Qualifications

A PhD in hand by August 2018 in Arabic Studies or related field; native or near native proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic as well as fluency in one or more dialects; documented excellence in teaching Arabic language, literature, and culture at the undergraduate level; a strong commitment to teaching excellence; the ability to develop and maintain a dynamic Arabic Studies program; and an active research agenda (areas of sub-specialization within Arabic Studies and Middle Eastern Studies are open).
