General Summary of Position:
The Department of Public Health at the University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a full-time faculty member at the rank of Lecturer with expertise in biostatistics. The position requires proficiency and experience in teaching and biostatistical support to fulfill this role for undergraduate and graduate programs in public health, nursing and other health sciences.
Public Health is a dynamic, growing program located within the College of Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The college prepares professionals and scientists in a wide range of health science fields including applied, clinical and translational areas. A large research program along with vibrant community partnerships and engagement opportunities enrich and support our educational programs.
The Public Health program invites candidates who have experience teaching biostatistics courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels to apply. Advanced graduate courses in quantitative modeling techniques and undergraduate courses in epidemiology will also be taught as needed.
Additionally, individuals will be engaged in significant service to the college. The primary service component of this position will be to serve as a biostatistics resource for faculty and graduate students across the college. It may also include curriculum development related to biostatistics courses.
We seek applicants recognized for excellence in teaching, mentoring, and advising and who also have exceptional organizational and management skills, ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- A Master's degree in biostatistics or statistics is required
- Demonstrated teaching experience in biostatistics and/or epidemiology at the university/college level
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams in design and analysis
- Demonstrated potential to assist with statistical analysis for publications in scholarly journals
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student and faculty populations
- Experience in providing biostatistical support such as advice on a statistical plan for a research proposal, providing biostatistical analysis, and guiding graduate students in data analysis
- Excellent oral & written English communications skills
Additional Considerations:
- A Doctoral degree in biostatistics or statistics *Candidates may also be considered with a doctoral degree in epidemiology or other closely related field
- Successful candidates should also have a strong desire to teach a diverse population of graduate and undergraduate students within the College of Health Sciences
- Strong collaboration skills for working with faculty from a variety of disciplines
- Interest in inter-professional education
