The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in organic chemistry in its Blacksburg, VA campus. Candidates with strong expertise in the drug discovery area, with a focus on chemical neuroscience, chemical biology, bioorganic chemistry, synthetic method development, and natural products are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the VT Center for Drug Discovery (http://www.vtcdd.science.vt.edu/) and the Virginia Drug Discovery Consortium (http://vaddc.org/), which are University- and State-wide drug discovery initiatives. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty across the university on the Adaptive Brain and Behavior Destination Area (http://provost.vt.edu/destination-areas.html).  A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field is required; the degree is required at the time of appointment. The successful candidate must establish an internationally recognized research program and be an effective teacher in graduate and undergraduate courses.
