The George Mason University Education Leadership Program within the College of Education and Human Development (www.cehd.gmu.edu/) seeks to fill a tenure-line position (open rank) with a faculty member who has research and teaching expertise in new and emerging models of school organization, experience with innovative approaches to school management, and strong a commitment to bridging research and practice. The Education Leadership Program, which has strong partnerships with 10 school districts that serve well over 25 percent of the student population in the commonwealth of Virginia, is dedicated to graduating exceptionally well-prepared practitioner-scholars in its Ph.D. program and novice leaders in its master’s program. Mason, a Carnegie Research I institution, is the largest public university in Virginia with more than 35,000 students. Located in northern Virginia near federal funding agencies and a wide-range of associated resources in the National Capital region, Mason is an innovative, entrepreneurial, culturally diverse public university.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include maintaining an active line of research and external funding; teaching graduate-level courses related to instructional leadership, organizational learning, school reform, education economics/finance, and/or the application of the social sciences to the critical challenges faced by education institutions; contributing to the development and delivery of online courses; and completing essential service activities (such as those related to student assessment and accreditation). Faculty are also expected to contribute to special initiatives designed to further the mission of the college in areas related to education leadership.

Required Qualifications: Required qualifications for this position include an earned Doctorate in education or a related field; a profile of demonstrated teaching excellence and professional service; and evidence of a developed and focused program of research and scholarly activity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include demonstrated ability to secure external funding, teaching experience in online venues, success in mentoring Doctoral students, and practical experience in K-12 education appropriate for the position’s assignments.
