PRESIDENT

The Board of Trustees of the University of Charleston, a comprehensive, private institution of higher education located in the capital city of West Virginia, has launched a national search for the President of the University. Applications and nominations are being accepted.

The search commences at a time of growth at the University of Charleston (UC). Founded in 1888, the university has 221 accomplished and dedicated faculty members and serves more than 2,400 students. Twelve undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered across four schools: Arts and Sciences, Health Sciences, Pharmacy, and Business and Leadership. In 2013, the university expanded regionally, adding locations in Beckley and Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Innovation is a strategic focus throughout the curriculum. Its academic programs address emerging and growing needs in the region and world, and its core curriculum prepares graduates to be global citizens and leaders. The new $20.5 million Wehrle Innovation Center is designed to place students at the forefront of creative problem-solving while enabling them to explore potential paths for the future.

The learning experience extends beyond the classroom, including community service, student organizations, and athletics. More than one-third of UC’s student body competes on one of the 22 NCAA Division II athletic teams.

The Presidential Opportunity – The university seeks an innovative, thought leader, who has senior administrative experience with the ability to build teams, work collaboratively, and promote and implement innovative programs. An earned doctorate or evidence of extraordinary intellectual engagement and experiences that demonstrate the ability to lead an institution of higher education is required.
