POST DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - Computational Biophotonics:

The Computational Optics and Translational Imaging (COTI) Lab at Northeastern University is looking for a postdoctoral research associate with strong background in computational algorithm and software development for imaging applications. Particularly, we are look for candidates with experience in GPU computing, C/C++/MATLAB software development, and computational physics to advance an NIH-funded research project to develop state-of-the-art photon transport models and software platforms.

This postdoctoral research associate will contribute to the development of an NIH-funded open-source photon transport modeling platform, MCX (http://mcx.space/">http://mcx.space/). He/she will be responsible for developing GPU accelerated optical simulation and modeling algorithms, novel optical image reconstruction methods, mesh generation techniques and intuitive data/user interface. He/she will also have the opportunities to directly interact with a growing and diverse user community, running training programs, wiring papers and documentation, and participating collaborations with user-initiated research projects. This candidate is also expected to co-supervise graduate students, and collaborate with computer scientists in the lab.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have a PhD degree in computer science/engineering, biomedical/electrical engineering, physics, or related fields. This candidate should have a strong background in programming and numerical algorithms. Knowledge in CUDA programming and high-performance computing is required. Those with strong skills in programming such as C/C++/OpenCL/OpenMP/MPI, web development with HTML/CSS/Javascript and Graphical User Interface (GUI) design will be favorably considered. Past experience in publishing and maintaining open-source projects is a plus. Good writing and communication skills are desired. The candidate is expected to be highly creative and self-motivated in the research and is capable of working in a collaborative environment.
