 Lone Star College-System Office employees are based at one of two System Office locations; The Woodlands and University Park.  Both are the site for multiple administrative departments and system-wide training programs.

 This position is located at the LSC-System Office, University Park location at 20515 SH 249 (SH 249 and Louetta Road) Houston, Texas 77070-2607.

 Position Summary:

 Holds direct management authority and accountability to execute policies and operational initiatives for a department or functional area. To provide leadership and management of Compliance for System Financial Aid. Oversees functions related to regulatory compliance of Title IV federal and state financial aid programs. Supervises and evaluates staff; prepares system and local reports adhering to state, federal, system, and local guidelines; maintains focus on quality assurance and training to the financial aid staff and clients.

 Job Functions:

  1. Manages and implements Lone Star College’s (LSC) policies and procedures to ensure the accurate, timely and ethical compliance of the Title IV program funds according to federal and/or state regulations
  2. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates both full-time and part-time advisors and support staff
  3. Monitors the administration of all federal, state and institutional financial aid programs including the review of these programs through federal, state, and institutional audits
  4. Performs routine audits on active and inactive student files to ensure compliance with Title IV regulations
  5. Creates an annual audit plan for state and federal programs
  6. Makes periodic visits to college campuses to ascertain training needs and any regulatory compliance deficiencies
  7. Assists the Executive and System Directors in developing communication pertinent to LSC’s financial aid programs through the design of calendars, flyers, posters, brochures, and articles
  8. Assists Program Operations by ensuring accurate completion of verification and documentation of students’ status
  9. Conducts personnel evaluations and assists staff members in planning professional and developmental experiences
  10. Manages budget development through program, staffing and needs assessment
  11. Participate in state, college and system committees to ensure efficiency of the delivery of financial aid
  12. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of financial aid and business practices and procedures, and regulations as they relate to higher education
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs
  • Commitment to promoting diversity in the student and employee populations
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community college
  • Proven effectiveness in allocating and managing resources, both material and financial
  • Understanding of the integrated student services model
  • Understanding of computerized information systems (preferably Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Financial Aid)
  • Ability to provide dynamic and proactive educational leadership in the areas of student support services
  • Ability and commitment to work collaboratively
  • Ability to develop both internal and external teams and partnerships

Physical Abilities:

  • Minimal physical effort is required

Salary:

 $63,976

 Work Schedule & Conditions:

  • PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

 Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years of related work experience in higher education; at least 3 years in a management or director level position

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
