RESPONSIBILITIES:
The School of Theatre, Television, and Film is seeking a professor
of Theatre with a specialization in Directing for the Stage with a
secondary specialization in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA). An
additional area of expertise is also desirable, which might include
directing works in classical, contemporary, experimental, or
non-Western theatre.
Primary duties will include teaching lower division, upper division, and graduate courses in a wide range of topics which could include: directing, directing and producing theatre for young audiences, creative drama, and theatre education. The faculty member will also direct as part of the School’s theatre season in collaboration with advanced undergraduate and graduate students in design and technology.
Other responsibilities include recruiting and promoting the School on local and national levels and providing service to the university and professional community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MFA and/or PhD required. The ideal candidate should have
substantial professional directing credits, especially theatre for
young audiences, and a minimum of two years teaching experience at
the university level. Preference will be given to those candidates
who also have experience teaching creative drama and / or theatre
education, and whose directing experience includes classical,
contemporary, experimental, and / or non-Western theatre.
