Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education

Applications are invited from results-oriented individuals for the position of Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) at the OU-TU School of Community Medicine. This is an outstanding opportunity to take undergraduate medical education in a community-based academic medical setting to the next level of excellence.

 

The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education reports directly to the Dean of the OU-TU School of Community Medicine (SCM). As a key member of the Dean’s management team, s/he will play a significant role in the school’s recent transition to a full four-year medical school. The Associate Dean for UME will have primary responsibility for implementation and evaluation of the undergraduate medical education track delivered at the SCM campus. In conjunction with the Oklahoma City academic affairs team and the curriculum committees, the Associate Dean for UME will ensure that the educational program is managed, delivered, and evaluated according to accreditation standards and ensure that the SCM track sufficiently covers and assesses the seventh community medicine competency that reflects the unique mission of the campus.

 

The person selected for this position will be an MD/DO, PhD or EdD with a proven record of leadership in curriculum development and medical education at an LCME-accredited medical school. Requisite attributes will include: a passion for training physicians to improve the health of the community; demonstrated ability to inspire and work collaboratively, creatively and productively with others; strong leadership, communication and listening skills; a distinguished record of innovative educational leadership; and a robust understanding of the LCME and experience with site visits and preparation for accreditation process and review.
