Instrumental Music
POSITION: Full-time appointment in Instrumental Music – Director of Bands
RANK/SALARY: Assistant or Associate Professor, Tenure track appointment in Instrumental Studies.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Director of Bands; oversee all university bands and conduct premier university
wind ensemble. Teach courses related to the candidate’s expertise. Develop and maintain national and
international profile. Cultivate and maintain relationships with professional associations. Work in tandem
with musicians of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Active and highly visible in recruitment of outstanding students at
local, regional, national, and international levels. Engage in appropriate service to the College, the University,
and the profession.
QUALIFICATIONS: Outstanding artistic accomplishments as a wind ensemble conductor. Established
reputation as a conductor and teacher with a consistent record of creativity and/or scholarship required.
Ph.D./D.M.A preferred; Master’s degree required.
APPOINTMENT DATE: July 1, 2018
