Required Qualifications: Qualified candidates should have a graduate degree with a proven commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level or have professional equivalence in a related field. Record of research and/or extensive professional practice is required. Successful applicants will teach theoretical and practical hands-on courses, and will be able to work with faculty and students on collaborative projects. All qualified candidates will be considered; however, we are particularly interested in those with specializations: User experience design, Human-centered design process, Design theory, methods, and strategy, Design patterns and principles, Mobile computing design and prototyping, Usability evaluation and research methods, Participatory design with communities. Qualified candidates should have a terminal degree, a proven commitment to quality teaching, and a strong record of research. Preferred Qualifications: Successful applicants will be able to teach both theoretical and practical hands-on undergraduate and graduate courses and build and lead teams in collaborative projects. We are especially interested in candidates who are eager and qualified to not only help contribute to our undergraduate and graduate degrees, but also help our growing and evolving School of Design. Responsibilities: DePaul University's College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) School of Design (SoD) invites applications for a one-year renewable full time non-tenure track faculty to begin in Fall 2017. Launched January 2015, the School of Design offers a learning environment that nurtures the development of innovative designers, who embrace interdisciplinary methods to solve challenging problems. Faculty will teach courses that focus on design, creation, and implementation, and evaluation of interactive artifacts with a focus on web and mobile computing by developing skills in design methods, user experience, visual design, web development, design patterns and techniques to communicate and share their design ideas. Applicants should anticipate teaching the integration of existing and cutting-edge technologies and social practices into visualizations, apps, products, processes, and design experiences that positively impact society. Located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant Loop, the School of Design, which launched in January 2015, offers a learning environment that nurtures the development of new kinds of designers: flexible, interdisciplinary, life-long learners trained as collaborative problem seekers and solvers. Graduates are capable of integrating existing and cutting-edge technologies and social practices into visualizations, games, apps, products, processes, and experiences that positively impact society.
