DEAN, COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS

The University of Texas at Arlington invites inquiries, applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs (“CAPPA”), a center for excellence in collaborative research and learning regarding the built environment. Since its formation in 2015 by bringing together the University’s School of Architecture and School of Urban and Public Affairs, CAPPA has focused on becoming a leader in research regarding sustainable urban communities through its degree programs and research centers.

CAPPA is one of the few colleges in the United States offering five disciplines whose integration reflects the interdisciplinary practice of their professions. In CAPPA, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, planning, and public policy interface, providing endless synergistic possibilities for education and scholarship. Students therefore have a unique opportunity to experience how these disciplines intersect with one another, providing an important preview of what they will experience in their future careers as professionals. The College offers undergraduate studies in architecture and interior design, and graduate studies in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, and public administration/policy. The College of Engineering, in collaboration with CAPPA, offers an undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering, further manifestation of the growing bond between the two colleges. In addition, there are growing collaborations between CAPPA and other Colleges and Schools at UTA around the singular focus of the University’s Strategic plan of “Enabling a Sustainable Megacity.”

Over the past five years, UTA has seen exceptional growth in terms of size and reputation. As the University continues to grow, the next Dean of CAPPA will be expected to enhance the college’s reputation, impact and engagement as well as spearhead growth in its size and footprint. Among other duties, the Dean will be responsible for increasing CAPPA’s visibility and recognition, guiding its strategic vision, providing administrative leadership, and leading CAPPA’s fundraising and resource development efforts.

Individuals nominated and those who wish to apply should provide an electronic version of their curriculum vitae and a bullet point summary of leadership roles held, including the scope of responsibilities and major accomplishments in each. Review of nominations and applications for the position will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled.
