The University of Dallas seeks an experienced and talented academic administrator to replace its retired provost. As a member of President Thomas W. Keefe’s leadership team, the provost is responsible for leading the university’s faculty and academic units. Five academic deans and the vice president/dean for the Rome campus report to the provost, as do the associate provost, assistant provost, director of institutional research, registrar, and the liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The new provost is expected to begin on or before July 1, 2018.

The provost will be committed to the University of Dallas’ mission and to the Catholic intellectual tradition. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in a discipline within one of the University’s academic programs, possess a record of teaching and scholarly success meriting appointment at the rank of full professor, and have significant administrative experience. The provost will lead the review and shepherd the process for developing and implementing new programs. As such, the candidate will have demonstrated success in innovative and effective academic programming as well as experience working with and developing the curricular elements necessary to a liberal education. This person will demonstrate a collaborative leadership style supporting the ability to work effectively with the faculty, staff, students, deans, senior administrators and trustees.

The new provost will work with the university’s leadership team, faculty, and staff, to foster growth in undergraduate and graduate programs. Under the provost’s guidance, the university’s academic offerings must simultaneously be an expression of its mission and the cornerstone of its sustainability. The provost will ensure that fields of study and the types of degrees offered are designed to enhance the market attractiveness and competitive positioning of the university in a way that reflects its core values. The provost will maintain and strengthen the University’s distinctive academic programs while providing appropriate leadership to support its historic traditions, advocate strategic change, and represent it effectively internally and externally.

The University of Dallas is organized into four colleges and schools—the Constantin College of Liberal Arts; Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts; Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business; and the Ann & Joe O. Neuhoff School of Ministry. Its academic divisions also include the Cowan-Blakley Memorial Library and the Eugene Constantin Campus located near Rome, Italy. The University enrolls over 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students in its bachelors, masters, and doctoral programs. Its academic programs are supported by over 140 full-time undergraduate and graduate faculty. It has an undergraduate student-faculty ratio of 10:1, and approximately 89% of the University’s full-time faculty members hold the highest professional degree in their field. The University holds the dual distinction of being recognized as a Phi Beta Kappa institution and accredited by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International) for its business programs.

The Provost Search committee will begin reviewing applications in September with the goal of finalizing the appointment by December 2017.
