Associate Registrar

Essential Functions
Assist Vice Provost and Registrar and senior office leadership in overall management of office including compliance, goal setting, policy making, action planning and problem solving, business continuity and risk management, and improving organizational effectiveness. Work as part of the Office of the Registrar Senior Leadership Team to promote productivity, collaboration, coordination, and effectiveness within and between all sections of the office. Evaluate current processes and develop future plans to improve the services of the office. Provide assistance and advice to the Registrar and senior university administrators on key policy initiatives and is responsible for project management of related work assignments. Monitor and improve work processes related to Office of the Registrar operations pertaining to courses, degrees and students. Supervise Assistant Registrars and support staff for multiple sections of the office (including front counter, information dissemination, staff development, and quality control). Communicate policies and procedures concerning academic policy to university staff, faculty, students and the public. Manage caseload distribution and work assignments. Provide expertise and training in the area of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Serve as liaison to auditors, government agencies, and other offices in Academic Affairs and at UT. Represent office at meetings and conferences. Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in 1) administering student services and operations in a highly automated environment at a 4-year college/university and 2) hiring, developing, supervising, and evaluating managerial and professional staff. Strong commitment to providing high-quality customer service; action-oriented to achieve results; ability to inspire trust of others and working with integrity and ethically, possess strong problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to develop and implement regimens that reach goals and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; think creatively, act with strategic agility, deal with ambiguity, evaluate and resolve problems, manage innovation, communicate vision and purpose; establish, motivate, and drive effective teams to meet objectives, manage conflict and change, work collaboratively within office and with other university departments; have knowledge of educational policies and Federal and State law pertaining to education records; understand effective use of computer and information technology, committed to diversity. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
